There are plenty of ways to get free units in Marvel Rivals. This article tries to list them all.
BattlePass
Usually BattlePass has 400 free units spread on different pages.
BattlePass also has 200 free lattice, which can be traded 1:1 to units whenever you need it.
Luxury BattlePass
It is probably not your case since you’re reading this article and trying to find ways to get more free units, but if you buy Luxury BattlePass, you will get:
- 200 more units;
- 400 more lattice;
- and ability to exchange 1000 chrono tokens to 100 units, 15 times.
This way, if you spend 990 lattice, you will get 2100 units back. This makes buying BattlePass one of the cheapest way to buy a new skin you like.
Events
There are plenty of events in the game. Usually “Events” tab even has two sub-tabs: one with an ongoing long event (like Summer event), and one with many little ones.
Most of the time events have at least 100 free units. Make sure to click every event to find out what they offer.
If there is a long event (like the Summer one), its special page will have many interactive parts which will transfer you to either maps with certain “quests” (see below Special Maps), or event pages that can not be open in other way. Make sure to click everywhere to not miss anything.
Special Maps
Currently there is Times Square and Hellfire Bay Beach. You can go to the first one by clicking “Times Square” on the “Play” screen. The second one is available via portal from the Times Square itself. Depending on the current events, there are usually a shortcuts to one or the other placed somewhere else on UI.
What’s important about these maps is that sometimes events have tasks added for these maps. E.g. find some place, or make a photo here and there. In these cases, you will see a notification on the “Play” screen of the game or somewhere on the “Events” screen. But if you want to double check, just load on the maps, go around and see what’s going on there.
For instance:
- Everyone got 100 units during New Year Eve just for logging in and joining others on Times Square.
- Every player got 100 units multiple times during Marvel Rivals 1 year celebration by simply logging in to Times Square and doing nothing there.
- They gave 100 units for those who spend 15 minutes watching highlights from Avengers movie.
- During long events like the Summer one, they usually give you 300-400 units for making in-game photos and sharing them with other players via in-game chat or social networks.
Missions
Missions are the sub-tab on “BattlePass” tab which lists all the little “quests” you can do to get some free currency.
Weekly missions, Challenges, and Season Missions usually give you chrono tokens only. Other sections there are more interesting. They are usually duplicates of other sections of the game (like, the current PvE mode or an ongoing event), but they are displayed in a more compact way. You won‘t find a unique way to get units here, but this is a nice place to double check that you have not missed them on other sections.
PvE
If there is an ongoing PvE mode, it usually has quests for those who are ready to grind. Click “Change mode” on the “Play” tab to check if there is a special limited-time game mode. If there is one, it might be the current PvE.
PvE modes usually have their own quests called “achievements” that gives units for trying this mode and hard grinding it. For instance, Blood Hunt PvE gives 1400 units in total. If you have plenty of time to grind, here you go.
Hero Proficiency
Every hero can give you 500 units for maxing their proficiency. Open the hero you like, go to “Proficiency” tab, and find there a list of things you get if you play this hero long enough.
To optimize it, check “Missions” tab on the hero proficiency screen to make sure you understand what exactly increases this hero proficiency apart of play time. Most of the heroes are more easy to farm in 18 vs. 18 modes rather than QP or Competitive. But those arcade modes have daily proficiency cap per hero (also displayed in the “Missions” tab).
The futher you go on the hero proficiency, the harder it goes. In other words, if your goal is getting free units, you’d better first up all the heroes to Level 18, then up all the heroes to Level 27, and so on.
Esports Events
Ignite tournaments are frequent these days, and NetEase wants you to participate in them in any ways. That’s why if you open “Esports” tab and then go “Esports Events” section (not a separated tab though), you will find out that you can set predictions for the future games.
First, if your predictions are correct, you will get units depending on the result of those predictions. If you’re half right, you will get 100 units, 75% right — 100 units more, 100% — 100 units more. Make sure to check all the tabs there are, because you can set many predictions there.
What’s even more important is that “Esports Events” section has its own “Esports Missions” tab. There you can find missions like “Complete 1 predictions”, “Watch Ignite for 15 minutes”, or even “Subscribe to 1 schedule”. Each of these tasks can earn you free units.
Achievements
Completing certain achievements give you achievement experience which then can bring you units.
From the main screen, click on your avatar, go to the “Achievements” tab, then check the sections called “Heroic Journey” and “Chronoverse Saga”. There, click on a small gift icon above the list of the achievements. You will find all the rewards you can claim, and free units are among them.
Currently “Herois Journey” achievements can earn you up to 1700 free units, while “Chronoverse Saga” can earn you up to 600 units. The “Chronoverse Saga” achievements are much easier to complete though.
Linking Discord
Open “Settings”, then go to “Community”, and select “Discord”. If you link your Discord account, you will get 100 free units.
Linking E-mail
Open “Settings”, then go to “Community”, and select “NGP Member”. If you link your E-mail there, you will get 100 free units.
Invite a Friend
Open “Settings”, then go to “Community”, and select “Hero Assembly Event”. There you will find your referral code. Share it with your friend. When they use it during account creation, and then reach level 10 on their account, you will get 300 units.
The reward can be claimed once.
Marvel Rivals Championship
If you have friends, you can create a faction and participate in MRC. For ranking up during MRC you will get free units.
Although probably if you’re that skilled, you’d better start a streaming career or something like this. It will bring you more free units.
