Doctor Strange is one of the tanks that everyone need to know how to play. Portaling during OT is an important thing to do, and you have to live after portaling to stall the point.
However, his gameplay is very rewarding, and the kit is versatile. You can play close-range poke, you can play brawl, you can play dive. Combine these things with a huge shield, and you will get one of the meta tanks of Marvel Rivals.
Abilities
Ability stats can be found on the game’s website.
Keep in mind that when a new season is released, the information on the site is not updated immediately. Especially team-up information.

Portals are tricky thing to do and may not be obvious at the first time. Train them in practice before flexing on the real matches.
- If you struggle with placing portals and always mess the sides, think about them as like you’re creating a tube from one place to another. You enter the tube on one side and exit on another.
-
When you’re portaling from spawn to the point, you usually want to put the exit portal on the ground, to make sure that your supports will be able to heal you, while you’re standing there.
- If you put the exit portal in the sky, they will see nothing and, first, they won’t be able to heal you safely; second, they will spend some time jumping after you and taking a safe spot (usually it means you all will die).
-
There are two ways to get value of the portal at the start of the domination match:
- Create a portal to the point. If the point has a high ground, put the exit portal there. This way you will take the point faster, and you will be on advantageous position.
- If you have high damage duelists in the team, you may create a portal to split the enemy team while they are going to the point. Wait for tanks to go by, and open the portal right in front of their supports. If you do it correctly, they will be trapped with you.
- Another way to do it is to open a portal behind the enemy team while they are going to the point. But it may not work depending on the map.
Team-Ups
Psionic Vortex (Invisible Woman)
- Since this attack launching enemies you can cancel some of their abilities. E.g. you’re able to cancel Venom’s swing away if you time your correctly. This way you make them very him to kill.
How to play against...
Venom
- If you have the team-up ability from Invisible Woman — Psionic Vortex — you can cancel Venom’s swing when he tries to run away. If you do, he is a free kill.
How to play with Doctor Strange
Stephen does not need much care. He is versatile, he can survive diving and poking, he does not die instantly when being brawled.
The only time where he is helpless is a moment when he casts a portal. Whenever you see your Doctor Strange opening a portal to deliver your team to the point during OT, make sure you’re making everything you can to prevent enemies from canceling it. Usually it’s enough to stand in from of him and use any shields on him (e.g. Invisible Woman’s shield). But if you want to make sure, give him a Magneto bubble

And do not you ever go into the portal before your Strange, if you’re a healer. Enemies usually expect the portal, and they will instantly kill you. Let your Strange and other tanks go first. You stay in the spawn and heal from there for as much as you can. Then go through the portal.
