Deadpool (Tankpool)

Jack of all trades, master of none. Tankpool has all the tools to be the best in the class, plus a unique skill-leveling system. But there are so many things to juggle that players prefer to pick more specialized heroes.

Unique Ultimate System

Instead of charging your ultimate as usual heroes do, you build a “style meter”. You get the style charge every time you damage the enemies.

Some abilities give you more amount of style charge than others. Check below in the Abilities section.

What’s more important is that after usage your ultimate goes on 60 seconds cooldown. The timer starts the moment you press . The style meter also won’t be gaining charge until the cooldown ends.

The cooldown is shared between Deadpool versions. The current style meter charge is not shared though. In other words, you can not build your ultimate on one Deadpool, then use it on another.

Unique Upgrade System

No matter which Deadpool version you’re picking, it will be bad at the start. To make it better, you will need to build upgrade charge and pick upgrades from the upgrade book. See Upgrade paths below for more imformation about them.

The upgrade charge is building passively, but it builds faster when you deal damage, apply healing, and take photos of the dead enemies. Actually, taking photos is the main way to get your upgrades faster.

Important thing to note here is that due to this upgrade feature of Deadpool, he does not worth to pick during over time, because you will get a weak hero for the most important part of your game.

Settings

Deadpool-Style Ability Description

  • Disable it to be able to read the abilities help page.

Abilities

Ability stats can be found on the game’s website.

Keep in mind that when a new season is released, the information on the site is not updated immediately. Especially team-up information.

Deadpool in Your Area

  • This is your dive partner. Use it every time you dive someone, and they will not be able to see their HP and understand what’s going on around.

  • To gain a style charge for your ultimate, make sure that at least one enemy ends up in your area. This will give you around half of the “style level”.

Bunny Bounce

  • Always remember that this version of Deadpool does not have jump reset when you jump over an enemy, unless you’ve used The Big Test.

  • Jumping over enemies heads gives you the whole style level of your ultimate charge. E.g. if you had D and a half you will have C and a half after a jumping.

The Ban Hammer

  • This is the ultimate you will use most of the time, because the other ultimate is harder to execute without full upgrades.

  • Aim the heroes who can not autoheal themselves and who can miss shots more frequently that others.

    • E.g. Gambit’s primary works in a way that he shoots three cards; if one of them missed, he will be punished by this ultimate.
  • When you use the ability on an enemy support, jump over their frontline and dive that support.

    • This way you will either kill the support faster, or will force the whole enemy team to look back, making them an easier target for your duelists.
    • If you don’t dive the support, they may not die because other support will probably help them.
  • Remember that your ultimate charge does not work as other hero’s ultimate. If you’re going to die, and you have your ult, just ult anyone. Otherwise it’s wasted.

The Big Test

  • If you do not have Hazardous Hijinks upgrade, it would be much harder to hit the jackpot. That’s why this ultimate is used less frequently.

  • But this ultimate is great if you’re trying to stall a point alone against multiple enemies. It will help you to live longer.

  • When you start the ultimate, you get your Hazardous Hijinks and Bunny Bounce cooldowns refreshed.

Upgrade!

  • You can pick upgrades by pressing numbers on your keyboard, instead of clicking by mouse. It saves time.

  • Hela team-up adds a new page to the upgrade book. The UI shows icon on the right side that says “Scroll”. To turn the page you need to press , not scroll it. Yeah.

    • You can rebind it in hero settings though. Go to Keyboard / Combat, pick Tankpool in hero selector, then look for section Hero and setting called SCROLL there.

Take Photo

  • You’d better rebind this ability in the settings, otherwise it may mess up your gameplay, because is also used for Upgrade!

  • You’re invincible during the whole period of taking a picture. Use it to evade ultimates, live in the enemy backline, etc.

  • While you’re taking photos, you’re not contesting the objective. So, be careful making this while you’re stalling the point alone.

Upgrade paths

Pick your upgrade paths depending on your enemies comp. If you’re playing dive tank or going against melee dive heroes like Captain America, prefer sword upgrades first, to defend your backline. If you’re a frontline tank going against main tanks like Magneto with mid- or long-range poke damagers, pick gun upgrades first, to break their backline.

Do not blindly trust the paths described below. Experiment with what’s best for you.

Gunpool

Position yourself as a frontline tank, and dive above their frontline as soon as you’re ready to ult their supports.

  1. The Ban Hammer
Since you do not need to build a charge for your ultimate the usual way, you will probably be the first tank who uses ult. That’s why you should upgrade it first.

  2. Dual Desert Eagles
This is the main way you deal damage, that’s why you should upgrade it after upgrading the ult.

  3. Deadpool in Your Area
The damage reduction this upgrade is giving you is crucial, since you do not have much sustain, because this version of Deadpool is not that mobile as Dpspool.

  4. Hazardous Hijinks
Two charges instead of one allows you to be more mobile and dive into backline more frequently.

  5. Kick@$$ Katana
They are useless without dashes, that’s why you should get them first, then upgrade the katanas.

  6. Magical Unicorn Shield!
Well, it’s a shield. You can get it before the dashes upgrade if you prefer it that way.

  7. The Big Test
Since you’re going the gun path, it’s okay to upgrade this ultimate at the end.

Swordpool

Position yourself as a dive tank: take off-angles, be annoying for their supports. As a somewhat mobile dive tank you can also help your supports to counter enemy divers.

  1. The Ban Hammer
Same as with the Gunpool upgrade path. This ultimate is just easier to use on the first teamfights.

  2. Hazardous Hijinks
As a Swordpool you need to be as mobile as possible. Two charges instead of one allows you to jump between enemies and jump on the divers you’re dealing with. It will also be much easier to hit a jackpot on your sword ultimate with two dashes.

  3. Kick@$$ Katana
Same as with the Gunpool. They are useless without dashes, that’s why you should get them first, then upgrade the katanas.

  4. Deadpool in Your Area
The damage reduction this upgrade is giving you is crucial, since you do not have much sustain, because this version of Deadpool is not that mobile as Dpspool.

  5. The Big Test
When you have your katanas fully upgraded, it’s time to upgrade their ultimate.

  6. Magical Unicorn Shield!
It will help you to evade ultimates, shield your supports, block healing, or just go away safely.

  7. Dual Desert Eagles
Upgrade to deal more damage while you’re going to the fight point.

It’s also worth nothing that instead of upgrading the shield and beyond, you can use the Hela team-up and upgrade your katanas with this team-up first. See Team-Ups section for more.

Another one thing to note here is that the Swordpool upgrade path is much more flexible and more depends on your dive gameplay. If you a soft diver, you will need your Dual Desert Eagles upgrade sooner. If you’re hard diver like Venom, you can easily upgrade it at the end.

Team-Ups

Use Gambit team-up on earlier stages of the game, then switch to Hela team-up when you get your other upgrades ready. This will give you great of the both worlds. The Hela team-up is good, but if you pick it from the start, it will does nothing.

Gumbo Chimichangas (Gambit)

  • Since Tankpool does not have jump reset apart of his sword ultimate, this is your second jump ability.

  • When enhanced, it stuns the enemies, which gives you an “escape that shit” card by Gambit. Use it when you are being chased and need to go away.

    • Or you can use it as an engagement tool, depending on the way you like.

“Hel-Yeah, Honey” (Hela)

  • Always pick it at the second part of the game, when you have other major upgrades.

  • If you’re going a Swordpool upgrade path, this is a must have to deal big damage to the enemy supports.
